A Letter to You

Hello,

We're Allan and Kami. Thank you for taking a moment to look at our profile.  We believe in and love God very much, and we have seen Him help us through our hard times. We know that He will help you too, and hopefully you can feel His love and strength lifting you through this time in your life. We hope that as you get a little peek into our lives you will receive the inspiration you are seeking for your precious little one.

Our story began at church, when Allan introduced himself to Kami. She was immediately impressed by his friendliness, and Kami’s open nature and beautiful blue eyes intrigued Allan. On our first date he stole Kami’s heart with his lighthearted dance to the restaurant music when he thought she wasn’t watching. We quickly fell in love and the rest is history.

After three years of marriage, we learned that adoption was the only way we could grow our family. We adopted our first child a year and a half later, and our second 3 years after that. They have brought so much joy to our lives and we are incredibly blessed to have our girls as part of our family.

We lived in Utah while Allan completed school, moved to Arizona for his first job, and finally ended up in Idaho when Allan got his dream job. We love our little town and live close to a lot of our extended family. We cannot wait to continue growing our family in this home.

About Us:

For Allan, the hardest part of an adoption profile is talking about himself. He would probably just say, “I think too often like an engineer, I like to wear shorts and tall socks, and I like to have fun” and then direct the conversation somewhere else. If you stuck around for a while though, you would see that he is devoted to our family, and we always have first dibs on his time and attention.
Allan often leaves little love notes around the house or brings flowers or treats home for me and the girls. He enjoys making us happy and knows he succeeded when he can see my laugh wrinkles, Ava’s dimples, and the light in Baby L's eyes. Allan is a good man and helps others whenever he can (he even enjoys helping people move!)
Allan enjoys working with his hands, making things out of wood, and he looks forward to having a little guy around the house to help with his projects. He works hard to provide for our family, and thoroughly enjoys his favorite time of the day, which is when he gets home from work!

Kami finds deep joy in being with and taking care of children, as well as the in the Fine Arts, especially modern dance and musical theatre. She is quick to help a lost child, most attentive to anything a child has to say, and happy to join in whatever game the children are playing. Kami is open and accepting of all people – she never judges by appearance – but children are her favorite. She is a great mother to our daughters, and I know that any child would be lucky to have her in their life.

In high school, Kami was a cheerleader and carries that spirit with her today as she enthusiastically cheers me and the girls on in whatever we are trying to do. Her quiet strength gets us through the tough times, and her playfulness makes the good times even better.

Kami is by far the girliest of the six sisters in her family, but at the same time, she loves cheesy action hero movies and once ate a raw egg to win a family reunion game and satisfy her competitive streak. She is our wonderful lady, and we love her!

We adopted both of our daughters at birth. Little A is a very sweet, kind, and loving girl that has a mischievous streak. She loves to dance, swing, and splash in puddles. She is so playful and has a great imagination, which shows in her lively playtimes with pictures of our extended family. She is a proud sister and loves to play with and take care of Baby L. She loves to initiate family hugs and family playtime, and we are so grateful that she does! Little A is also a very good helper. Whether she's setting the table, throwing diapers away, or making dinner she is always quick to assist.

Baby L is a happy darling girl! She loves music and dancing which shows in her exuberant waving and squeals of joy. Her ultimate goal is to do everything that Little A does, and is determined to follow her every move.  Baby L loves to demonstrate her huge personality and spunk in her expressive facial expressions and gestures. She has Down Syndrome, and would be greatly blessed by more siblings that she can mimic and learn from. Like most people with Down Syndrome she has a gentle, happy demeanor and is such a light in our family.
Our Community:

In the mountains on one of our favorite hikes.

We live in a small town in the mountains of Idaho. As you drive or walk down the streets people wave hello, and the grocers and librarians know everyone’s names. It's a community that truly makes you feel at home. We enjoy hiking and building campfires in the mountains that surround our town and love going to all the town events throughout the year. Kami and the girls are regulars at our city park, and they are well known for their exuberant puddle jumping after rainstorms. They also make it to story time at the city library every week. Kami also enjoys helping put on performances and doing choreography for plays and dance studios in the community.

Puddle jumping!

Our Home:
Kami grew up in a home where any visitor was considered to be part of the family, and this is the type of home that we strive to have. If you come in the evening, be ready for one of Kami’s home-cooked meals followed by family prayer and scripture time. Saturday morning visitors may get put to work on one of Allan’s house projects, while Sunday night guests will have to plan the week and play whatever game Little A starts up (hide and go seek is a favorite!) Our home has everything we need, from a big yard to play in and a garden, to a good kitchen and plenty of space for Kami and the girls to dance around and play. We also have a big toy room, Kami’s craft room and Allan’s workshop in the garage. It is the perfect home, and we are so happy to grow our family in it.

We long to adopt another child into our family. We will love our next child and work hard for their well-being and happiness. We have a very comfortable open adoption with the girl’s birth families full of pictures, texts, and more, and look forward to again making an adoption arrangement that works for everyone involved. Our girls will always know their adoption stories, and we look forward to telling our next child their adoption story too.

Thanks for stopping in and getting to know us! Hopefully, the things we have written have helped you learn more about us. We welcome any questions sent directly to us at allanandkami@gmail.com.
