Little A's Finalization

Little A is officially ours!  Because of state law we had to wait 6 months before we could finalize little A's adoption.  On the 26 July it finally happened!

We had an early court hearing - 8:00am.  Allan's brother A1 was our lawyer.  It was his first adoption.  We arrived bright and early with extra time to go through the metal detector.  Our nephew J came with Grandad and Grandma H.  He borrowed Allan's parents Curious George for the day.  George got to go on an adventure through the x-ray machine and J helped George be quiet for the court session.  We didn't hear a peep out of either of them. :)

There was another adoption right before ours which was good because A1 learned that he was supposed to ask us, and the agency representative, some questions.  He prepared some questions on the fly.  He really did a great job.  It made it even more special to have everyone involved on our side of things a member of the family.

The hearing lasted about 10 minutes.  After the Judge declared us an official family he said that sometimes in adoption hearings he has a really good feeling about them.  Like this is the way it is supposed to be, it's right.  He then told us that he felt this way about our adoption of little A - things had happened like they were supposed to and we were supposed to be the parents of little A.  What a great experience to have.

Afterward we took a few pictures with the judge.

Thank you to all of the family who were able to make it! We're so glad you were able to be a part of this with us.

S worked with us in A's placement and with AG,we love her.  She was there representing the agency.

Hooray!  Finally an official family!

Little A is 6 Month's Old!

She's really starting to get chubby.  Her little rolls are so cute!

She is starting to move more and more and we've been having a lot of fun with that.

She weighs 15 lbs 1 oz and is 25 inches long. She is in the 25 percentile for length and the 25th for weight.

Little A has also started making a lot more noise.  She loves to squeal and blow raspberries and has learned how to mimic many of the sounds that Allan makes to her.  She also babbles a lot more than she ever has.

She is doing really well eating solid foods and loves to help feed herself.

She is learning to throw her toys and throws them consistently further.

She can roll over from her tummy to her back.  She's very content to lie on her back and squeal so she hasn't figured out how to roll from her back to her belly yet.

She's mastered her hands and can (and will) grab anything she can reach.  Thankfully for my hair she doesn't usually pull.

She's getting more adventurous.  Instead of just yelling at her toys she'll lean out and grab them.  She likes to jump up and down in her activity center.

She is a social butterfly.  She loves people and really enjoys playing with them and hearing all the funny sounds they make.  But, when she's tired she likes to be at home with Mom and Dad.

And, she can sit up by herself!  She still can't get there by herself, but if she is placed there she can sit for a long time.
